WToC’s Director and CEO Gorman John Ruggiero has been producing and directing theatre with child performers for over 35 years. He graduated from the Acting Conservatory at SUNY Purchase N.Y. He has written over 50 plays whose themes embrace the fundamental values of many cultures throughout the world. Each of these plays has been successfully produced by WToC, some several times.
His therapeutic Communication Skills Process® with children has earned him praise from universities, mental health centers, social service agencies, and public and private schools, in addition to many professionals in the fields of theatre and psychology. He conducts workshops for group retreats for psychologists, attorneys and other professionals.
Communication Skills Process® is a methodology that evolved from the synthesis of traditional/experimental acting techniques and therapeutic work with children on the Autism Spectrum. This work has also proven effective for other special needs children and youth as well as typically developing children.
World Theatre of Children also utilizes this methodology to give actors a solid foundation in the craft.
